Security and account

Delete your account

Permanently erase your account and everything in your vault.

You can erase your account and all of your data yourself at any time.

#How to delete it

  1. Consider making an encrypted backup first.
  2. Open Settings and find Delete account at the bottom.
  3. Choose Delete my account...
  4. Enter your master password and type DELETE to confirm.
  5. Choose Permanently delete everything.

#What happens

  • Your account, every credential in your vault, your recovery key data, your device unlock entries, your recent-activity log and all of your sessions are removed from the server.
  • If you pay for a plan, GrailVault asks the payment service to cancel it right away, so you are not charged again. Check the payment service's confirmation email; if you do not see one, contact us.
  • You are signed out and taken to the sign-up page.
  • The same email address can be registered again later as a brand new, empty account.

Warning

This cannot be undone. There is no grace period, and nobody can recover the data, not even us. Our own encrypted backups of the service may still hold an older copy of your encrypted data until they are replaced by newer ones (they are kept for a limited time), and we cannot read it.

#Other accounts are not affected

Deleting your account touches only your own data. Nobody else's account changes.
